Project at a glance

Hedlund Painting completed the interior repaint of a Seattle art gallery, finishing display walls, trim, and the exposed-structure space so the artwork stays the focus. Crisp, even white walls and clean lines under gallery track lighting created a neutral, professional backdrop for rotating exhibitions. We are licensed, bonded, and insured, and the work is backed by our 10-year workmanship warranty.

The challenge

A working art gallery needs walls that disappear so the art does not. That meant a neutral, uniform white field across the display walls, with no roller texture, no sheen flashing, and no visible patch lines that would compete with framed and canvas pieces hung under directional track lighting.

The space mixes finished gallery walls with an exposed-structure ceiling of open black ductwork and track, so the cut lines where wall meets ceiling, trim, and doors had to be clean and deliberate. It is also a high-traffic public space where art is hung and rehung often, so durability and a finish that touches up cleanly mattered as much as the initial look.

What we did

  • Walk and protect. Walked the space with the gallery contact and protected floors, fixtures, and any in-place art or display hardware.
  • Wash and prep. Washed and prepped the wall surfaces; filled and sanded nail holes and prior hanging damage for a flat, even field.
  • Prime as needed. Primed as needed per surface and condition.
  • Apply gallery-grade coatings. Applied professional-grade interior wall coatings for a uniform, low-glare white that reads neutral under gallery lighting.
  • Cut crisp lines. Cut crisp lines at the trim, doors, and the transition to the exposed ceiling structure.
  • Cleanup and QC. Cleaned up daily and secured gear; the superintendent walked the site for touch-ups, then walked it again with the customer for final QC and approval.

The result

The finished space shows bright, uniform white display walls with clean edges, no visible texture, and no sheen variation, reading as a true neutral backdrop. Framed works and large canvases sit cleanly against the white field, with the white door and trim blending into the wall plane. Polished gray concrete floors and the black exposed-structure ceiling frame the bright walls, giving the room a modern, gallery-grade contrast. The result is a professional, distraction-free exhibition space.

"From start to finish, our experience with Hedlund Painting was top notch. The crew members were on time, courteous, and attentive to detail."
